Good Friday Family Promotion – Day 4

4th Station: Jesus Meets His Mother

“Near the cross of Jesus stood His mother, His mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus saw His mother and the disciple whom He loved standing beside her, He said to His mother, ‘Woman, behold, your son.’ Then He said to the disciple, ‘Behold, your mother.’ And from that hour the disciple took her into his home.” — John 19:25–27

Reflection:
As Jesus carried the cross, He met His mother, Mary. Their eyes met, and in that moment, love and sorrow spoke louder than words.Mary’s heart ached seeing her Son suffer, yet her faith and trust in God never wavered. Jesus, even in His agony, looked upon her with love and compassion, offering her comfort.
This encounter reminds us of the deep bond between Jesus and Mary—and the unwavering love and support mothers give, even in life’s hardest moments.

How can I show love and gratitude to my mother today?
How can I imitate Mary’s faith and trust in God?
Even in suffering, love and compassion strengthen us and those around us. We are called to support and comfort one another through life’s trials.

Prayer:
Lord, help us to love with the same compassion and trust as Mary. May we find comfort in each other and in Your presence. Amen.

Take a Moment:
Jesus met His mother with love in the midst of suffering.
How can you bring love and compassion to someone who is hurting today?

3rd Station: Jesus Falls the First Time

“Then Pilate took Jesus and had him flogged. The soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on his head and arrayed him in a purple robe. They came up to him, saying, ‘Hail, King of the Jews!’ and struck him with their hands.” — John 19:1–3

Reflection:
Weakened by the scourging and the crown of thorns, Jesus falls under the weight of the cross.
This fall reminds us of the weight of sin and the struggles we all carry. Even Jesus, in His humanity, experienced the pain of falling.

How do I respond when I fall or fail?
Do I get back up, or lose hope?

Jesus didn’t stay down—He rose again and kept going.
His perseverance shows us that failure is not the end. With faith, we can rise again, stronger and more trusting in God. We are reminded that Jesus understands our struggles and walks with us in every moment of weakness.

Prayer:
Lord, when we fall, give us the strength to rise again. Help us trust in Your mercy and never lose hope. Amen.

Take a Moment:
Jesus fell, yet continued forward for you.
How can you rise again with faith today?

2nd Station: Jesus Takes Up His Cross

“So they handed him over to be crucified. And carrying the cross himself, he went out to the Place of the Skull (Golgotha).” — John 19:16–17

Reflection:
Jesus takes the cross—the very instrument of His suffering—and carries it willingly.
What was once a symbol of shame becomes, through Him, a sign of love and redemption.
He didn’t carry the cross out of obligation… He chose it out of love for us.

What crosses am I being called to carry?
Do I resist them, or trust God through them?

Jesus shows us that suffering is not meaningless. When carried with faith, it can shape us, strengthen us, and draw us closer to God. We are never alone—He walks with us every step of the way.

Prayer:
Lord, give us the strength to carry our crosses with courage and love. Help us trust in Your plan, even in difficult moments. Amen.

Take a Moment:
Jesus carried His cross for you.
How can you carry yours with faith today?

1st Station: Jesus is Condemned to Death

“Then he released Barabbas to them. But he had Jesus flogged, and handed him over to be crucified.” — Matthew 27:26

Reflection:
Jesus stands before Pilate—innocent, yet condemned. Pressured by the crowd, Pilate chooses fear over truth, and Jesus is sentenced to die.

This reminds us how easily injustice can happen… and how often we stay silent when we should speak up.

Do we follow the crowd, or stand for what is right?
Do we stay quiet, or defend what is just?

Jesus calls us to have courage—to stand with Him, even when it’s difficult.

Prayer:
Lord, forgive us for the times we judge unfairly or remain silent in the face of injustice. Help us to choose truth, courage, and love. Amen.

Take a Moment:
Jesus was innocent, yet accepted suffering for us.
How is He calling you to respond today?
